Somebody else's system, still half working
Analogue cameras on coaxial, a recorder nobody has logged into since it was fitted, and an alarm panel with a code that left with the last owner. Often the cable routes are reusable even when nothing attached to them is, which is the difference between a tidy upgrade and chasing new walls.
Extensions and renovations
Many of these villas have been added to. A security system designed around the original floor plan leaves the new rooms uncovered, and the survey is as much about what changed as about what is there.
Gardens that grew into the view
Twenty years of planting means the camera positions that made sense at handover now look into a hedge. Repositioning is usually a better answer than adding cameras.
Worth knowing
Where an older system is being replaced, we test the existing cable before quoting to pull new. Sometimes it is sound and the job halves; sometimes it is not and you should know that before the day.
