Security systems for apartments

Discreet security and smart comfort for apartments — without rewiring.

In an apartment the front door matters most, and the building's rules shape what you can install. We focus on the door, the flat while you're away and the smart features you'll use every day, using wireless options that don't need new cabling.

A typical system

What we'd usually install

  • Smart video doorbell or door-viewer camera
  • Smart lock with PIN, fingerprint or app entry
  • Wireless alarm with a door contact and motion detectors
  • An indoor camera with a privacy mode for when you're home
  • Smart switches, curtain motors and AC control on one app
  • Mesh Wi-Fi if the signal drops in the bedrooms

Every property differs — the survey decides the final design.

What matters

What matters for apartments

01

The front door

A smart doorbell or door-viewer camera and a smart lock cover who's calling and who gets in — within what building management allows.

02

While you're away

Motion alerts and a camera you switch on when you leave, so you know the flat is as you left it.

03

Renting

Wireless kit that can be removed and taken with you, leaving the landlord's walls as they were.

04

Comfort without chasing walls

Smart switches, curtain motors and AC control that fit existing wiring and boxes.

SIRA

Does SIRA apply to my home?

An individual apartment isn't normally regulated by SIRA. The building itself may be, which is a matter for its owner or management.

Maintenance

Keeping it working

Wireless apartment systems need less upkeep than a villa's — an annual check of batteries, firmware and camera health is often enough.

Questions

Common questions

  • Yes, if we plan it that way from the start: a wireless alarm, a battery doorbell, plug-in cameras and smart switches that can be swapped back to the originals.

  • For anything in common areas — the corridor, the outside face of your door — usually yes. Inside your flat, generally not, though some buildings have rules on drilling or external fixings.

Let's plan yours.
