Security systems for jewellery shops & gold traders
The category SIRA watches most closely, and the stock a camera has to actually identify someone over.
A jewellery shop carries more value per square metre than almost any other premises in Dubai, and SIRA treats it that way: jewellers sit in a high-risk category with specific requirements for camera coverage, recording and response. We design to that category — identification-grade cameras over every counter and display, the safe and strong room covered, duress buttons where staff can reach them without being seen, and the recording period the manual asks for.
A typical system
What we'd usually install
- Identification-grade cameras over every counter and display case
- Entrance camera at face height, plus an overview of the shop floor
- Safe, strong room and back-office coverage
- Intruder alarm with silent duress buttons at each counter
- Access control on the strong room and the staff door
- Recording kept for the period the SIRA category requires

What matters
What matters for jewellery shops & gold traders
Identification, not just footage
A camera that records a figure at the counter is no use to an investigation. Counter and entrance cameras are specified and positioned so a face fills enough of the frame to identify, which decides the lens and the mounting height before anything is bought.
The safe and the strong room
Coverage of the safe, the strong room and the route between them and the shop floor, with intrusion detection that is armed while the shop is open, not only overnight.
Duress, not just panic
A button at each counter and in the back office that raises an alarm silently, placed where it can be reached without a hand moving somewhere a person would notice.
Who is let in
Access control on the back office, the strong room and the staff door, with a record of who opened what and when — the question that gets asked after a loss, and the one CCTV alone rarely answers.
The handover and the deal
Shops that take trade-ins or buy gold over the counter want the transaction itself on camera, at an angle that shows the goods and both pairs of hands.

SIRA
SIRA and your premises
Jewellery shops and gold traders are one of the establishment categories SIRA regulates most closely, and the requirements are stricter than for general retail — camera specification, coverage, recording period and a maintenance contract are all set by the category rather than chosen. The activity printed on your trade licence decides which category applies; we check it against the current Preventive Systems Manual before designing anything, and we do not guess.

Keeping it working
Every one of our AMC plans includes at least four preventive visits a year — the minimum SIRA's manual sets for regulated establishments.

Common questions
More than for an ordinary shop. The category sets the camera specification, where coverage is mandatory, how long recordings are kept and the requirement for a maintenance contract. Rather than quote figures that change when the manual is revised, we check your activity against the current manual and give you the requirement in writing, free, before any design work.
That is the difference the survey is for. Identification needs a face to occupy enough of the frame, which fixes the lens, the mounting height and the distance. We specify counter and entrance cameras to identify, and the wider shop-floor cameras to show what happened — and we tell you which is which, so you are not expecting one from the other.
Yes. Duress buttons are fitted where a hand reaches naturally — under the counter lip, at the back office desk — and raise the alarm silently, so nothing on the shop floor changes while it is happening.
Yes. Each shop records locally so a cut line or a lost connection does not lose footage, and authorised people can view live and recorded video from every branch in one app or from a monitoring station.
